An alumnus of Puyallup Washington Butler was interested in the arts when she was growing as a child. She took part in singing competitions she performed in the theatre department at her high school as well as sang in the choirs. When she moved into Los Angeles, she studied acting at The University of Southern California and performed as Belle the Princess of Beauty and the Beast at Disneyland for one year and an entire quarter. When she dropped out of college, she began searching for a talent agency and trying out for work in television and film. Butler guest-starred on the television series CSI: Miami and CSI: NY.She was cast in the film A Couple of White Chicks at the Hair Dresser as well as in the 2008 Syfy TV horror movie Flu Bird Horror. In 2008, she appeared as the role of a woman in Don Stark's web-series Luke 11-17. Butler played the lead role on I Spit on Your Grave (2010) the film that is a remake of the 1978 cult movie of identical title. Though initially, she wasn't a fan of the film's sexual violence and nakedness, she came to accept the storyline's feminist tone and powerful character. Butler played Jennifer Hills who, having been severely attacked inside a cabin in the forest and sexually assaulted by a gang, vows to take revenge against the culprits. Steven R. Monroe, the director of this film announced it on the 8th October 2010. Butler started shooting The Stranger Within with Estella and William Baldwin, the psychological thriller in Mallorca, on November 11, 2011. The film will also be shot at Copenhagen Denmark as well as New York City. In June 2012, she teamed up with Michael Biehn in the Los Angeles filming of Treachery. Butler was a part of the 2013 terror film The Demented with Michael Welch and Kayla Ewell.
